BetterUnite in a nutshell?
A crowdfunding platform for nonprofits, individuals, and businesses, that provide much more than campaign management because in real-life your story doesn't just end with a single campaign. In many cases, your organization will need to prepare and execute campaigns with marketing leads, and during and after the campaign, you will want to know the donors and plan your future campaigns with that knowledge. By the way, why wouldn't you also have your donation page that is always-on? You probably use an email marketing engine, and wouldn't it be great to just integrate your crowdfunding campaign with these popular email marketing tools like ConstantContact, MailChimp, Emma and VerticalResponse? These features and much more are now brought together under one roof, BetterUnite, for you.
Who can use BetterUnite?
BetterUnite can be used by anyone. Nonprofits, individuals, and businesses can all use BetterUnite in their own ways to run their campaigns.
How do I access my funds?
All of your donations are collected in the funding platforms, WePay or Stripe, and you can withdraw your funds anytime. WePay and Stripe provide safe, industry standard, secure payment infrastructure for donations, and distribution. The security for WePay and Stripe access is separate from BetterUnite, so that you can distinguish between who can access funding and who run your campaigns. When you sign up for BetterUnite, you will be able to create and link a WePay or Stripe account. You can link campaigns to different funding accounts if you wanted to separate your donations by each campaign. You can also link one or more bank account within WePay or Stripe for distribution.
Does BetterUnite do CRM ?
Yes. We recognize that most of our users need to do CRM or Donor Management types of activities with the donor information. Past or potential Donors can be uploaded into the system, and it also grows automatically as you run your campaigns and donations start coming in. Our donor management tools also allow you to analyze this data, so you can "know your donors" better. You can also reach out to your donors from within BetterUnite.
What is Donor Management?
You have provided some potential donors, you have run campaigns, you have collected donations from many donors, now what do you do? Now, you have more data, more knowledge than before. You now know some donors who donated to your cause, and you know some who did not. You know some who donated large sums, and some not so large. What if you want to run other campaigns? Can you use this information? Of course you can. You may want to run future campaigns. When planning or launching these campaigns, you would want to take advantage of this information. This information could even drive the type of campaign you may run, and who you may want to target in the future. BetterUnite allows you to have this information and keep it all in a single platform so that you are not having to keep this information in multiple disperate systems, requiring you to spend so much effort trying to cobble all together. All of your basic donor management needs are in one system in BetterUnite.
How can I start accepting donations quickly?
You can start accepting donations immediately after you sign up and either create a campaign or activate your always-on presence, and setup your WePay account so that we know where to send your donations. Its a couple clicks to setup your WePay funding account once you're signed up for BetterUnite.
How do I run email campaigns?
There are many ways you can run your email campaigns to get the word about your cause, and BetterUnite provides many options for you.
How can I leverage my existing contacts, past and potential donors?
BetterUnite has the ability to import your existing contacts into the platform, and also capture past donation amounts so that you don't lose valuable information in evaluating your donors. You can import contacts from ConstantContact, MailChimp, Emma, VerticalResponse, or simply from an Excel file.
What are WePay and Stripe? Why do I have to sign up for this?
All donations are processed via the WePay or Stripe payment processing platforms. This approach has several advantages, including the ability separate access to your funds from your campaign management platform, the ability to link bank accounts for access to your funds, and secure, industry standard payment processing capabilities.
How do I setup for funding i.e. WePay or Stripe?
You can set up your funding via WePay or Stripe in your Settings area after you login to BetterUnite. When signing up for the first time, you will be shown a prompt window to sign up for WePay or Stripe, or login to WePay or Stripe if you already have an account. On this window, you will agree to link WePay or Stripe to BetterUnite by pressing the "Grant Access" button.When you sign up, you will receive a verification email from WePay or Stripe, which you need to confirm. If not confirmed within 30 days, your donations will be automatically refunded.
What are some funding options?
By default, all campaign donations will go directly to the WePay account you registered when you setup your WePay account. When creating a campaign, you have the ability to tie a campaign to other WePay accounts you may create. Since each WePay account can be tied to a different bank account, you can direct different campaigns to multiple bank accounts if needed.
Donation page says "access_denied this account is no longer able to transact". What does this mean?
This alert comes from WePay, your payment processing platform.
It means that the BetterUnite started collecting donations, but WePay does not have information on where to deposit your collected funds to. When you first setup WePay, you have 30 days to fully setup your account including your banking information before your account is disabled.
Please login into WePay.com and complete your setup to re-enable your account.
